July 2016 recap

In an attempt to celebrate the small (and big) achievements of mine, I’m doing an “Achievements Unlocked” series of sorts, to which I’ll add over time. I’ve mentioned my memory problem before, but I’m also hoping this will help with some insecurities of mine. It works as a title, because I do play The Sims a lot, among other games. Also, I couldn’t think of an alternate for the title, so boom.

I’m using Georgie’s questions for the monthly recap(s), because I’m not totally creative enough to make up my own. (It’s a reason I dropped out of Newspaper Productions.)

Just before writing this, I was:

Considering a new procrastination action. ?

This past month, I achieved:

Successfully changing my blog URL! ? I was really nervous, but then I realised I could just add hej.gay as a parked domain, then change the old directory name to fit with the new URL, and run a find-and-replace plugin to change all the links over. Now if I could just get Twitter cards working again…

I also cleaned and dusted parts of my room. Because I’m allergic to dust, it’s toxic to have it in my room, especially in large quantities. I’m aiming to have an little things out in places they will be prone to dust, but the process as a total is long, because the most I can do at one time is 3ft2. So, you know, that’s a blast. But even getting that much done is progress. I have to take long breaks between dusting (a few days), because my asthma and allergies start to bug me if I don’t, and a fever begins to brew.

I did clean (i.e. sanitize) my desk, though, as well as the bathroom. #progress

This past month, I was grateful for:

My family. Also, a chance. (So ambiguous.)

This past month, I learned:

The only debt I owe is medical-related. Changing my first name now just requires $400, plus the $92 medical bill paid…and me to find a way around policophobia. Also to find my birth certificate, because it turns out I lost it. ??

But it’s good news, considering 1) what I was fearing and 2) debts I expected.

This past month, I grew bored of:

6birds—officially. (So I changed it.)

But that’s OK, ’cause I enjoyed:

Eating Pocky and pizza rolls (not together, of course), finding DIY alternatives to some of my plugins, and fill-in puzzles. ??

Today, something that made me happy was:

Chatting away with Chynna, Georgie, Nancy and Tara. ?? I know this is also Georgie’s answer, but ahh—it’s a great way to put a smile on my face.

Today, something I could have done better was:

Gotten up around noon-thirty, when I originally awoke. ? I took an antihistamine, though, so my sleep pattern becomes more screwed up courtesy of strange dreams I experience. ?

Tomorrow, I’m going to:

Finish writing at least two more articles, because they’re due for August. Then, I need to find other allergy-related posts I feel I can write to submit before September…because I don’t do well when I’m in pain.

Next month, I’m looking forward to:

Getting recipes up. ^^; I’m wanting to participate in the Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap this year. I wanted to last year, but wasn’t sure if I’d be able to due to my nut allergies. Turns out I can, because they’ll pair me with peeps with similar allergies. YAS.

Next month, I’m going to make the positive change of:

Some things on my blog.

I also need to start eating more when I’m hungry instead of avoiding food just because of the peer pressure from family members who diet. Seriously, if I hear how great AdvoCare is one more time, I’m gonna flip a table—and don’t think I haven’t before.

One thing on my to-do list is:

Clean out my plugins. It just requires effort, and I’m kinda lazy about it.

If I had to write a book or record a film about this past month, I would call it:

A Life in the Shoes of Jane: July 2016

After this post, I’m going to:

Go grab a cold, fresh water bottle from the fridge.

Yay for the domain name change! I did the same in June, and I’d thought the experience would be tedious and annoying, but it turned out good :3 Love the new domain name, btw!

And yike . . . that’s expensive to get a name change! I mean, I can see why it’d cost money, but that’s still a lot!

I also enjoyed our chat XD That chat room is an awesome place!

I saw. ? I thought it was cool how I wasn’t the only one wanting a name change.

Thanks. ?❤ I love it, too. I also like yours! I love short domains. ?

I’m sorry I haven’t been commenting on your posts lately. I have been reading them, but haven’t thought of anything to say.

I’m surprised at the cost of your name change. I was expecting that cost to be in the four figure range. Then again, I’ve never know anyone to go through the process…

No worries—I don’t always have anything to reply with, either, so totally understand. 🙂

And eh, I was surprised it was so expensive. D; I read posts about other states’ fees for the name change, and Texas’ is one of the more expensive (by circa $250). 😐 If it was any higher, I’d feel like the dream was even more hopeless, so I’m glad it’s not.
