Saving BJ

From baby opossums to estranged kittens, from newborn calves to free horses – my mom, Mimi and I might as well call ourselves the animal rescue team, because that’s what we do; we find animals and take them in (my mom took the opossums to some wildlife place that takes care of them).

Going into the house (my mom’s), my mom saw a kitten. The house is a mobile home. You know the siding on mobile homes? Then there is this black tarp-looking thing covering the ground that lies directly under the house.

I went in to get a kitchen knife sharp enough to cut through the tarp. What was I going to do, you ask?

Let me just say, I have never before done this in my life. I went under the house. My mom helped me; she had taken a little bit of the siding off. We had saw a lump in the tarp that didn’t exactly match the ground. I put my hand over it, and it felt warm. There was the kitten.

I began to cut through the black blanket (not literally, people, just another name for the tarp). I made sure I put some distance between the kitten and the lump – I didn’t want to accidentally cut him! That would break my heart! Finally, I picked him up and handed him to my mom before I crawled backwards, out from underneath the house.

My mom thinks she another kitten, but we’re not sure. Apparently, she has seen a grey mamma cat wandering around her house. We think it is hers. At first we thought that this kitten was a Bobcat. It would be kind of funny – in an odd, but cute, way – if it turned out to be a baby bobcat!

We named it BJ (Booger Junior), because it looks kind of like Booger – black, with a few, light, places of white. Whether the kitten is a boy or girl, we do not know yet. Still, BJ is so adorable, no matter the gender. BJ’s so little! It has been a while since I have seen a kitten, so I have forgotten how small and cute kittens can be!

After all of the chaos – all of the excitement happened before 10:18 this morning – my mom and I went downtown to the ISD Administration Office to fill out a substitute application to be put onto the list. Then we went to Brookshire’s to get some things. We bought a salad “kit” and a loaf of bread (the kind from the bakery!), and that is what we had for lunch.

Aw, Kittens are indeed cute. I love them. However, I do not want one of my own because they turn into cats, which I really don’t like and I’m allergic to, sadly. ]=

Sounds like you had a busy, but exciting morning! 😛

I would use my parents laptop but what’s the point? You can’t do anything on there! The minute you ask they start wondering if you’re about to download stuff. It’s just soo much hassle.

That’s sorta cute…i hate cats though lol.
